Postcard inspired by a painting by Flemish Baroque artist Anthony van Dyck (Christ carrying the Cross early 17th century). Even though this is not a portrait I think you can see a great portraitist's hand in this painting. One can almost feel the state of the Christ how very aching and tired he is. This is one of the few 'cross pictures' that I really like there seems to be a lot of empathy in the painting. Also I admire the brushwork here it seems so quick and sure.
